TYPE: office for private practice | suburban

LOCATION: Kifissia, Attica, Greece

PROJECT: reconstruction & conversion of existing apartment into an office | total interior & furniture design

DATE: 2011

The layout of the apartment had to be radically restructured to serve the needs of a private practice with emphasis on spatial organisation for privacy and construction detailing for sound insulation. An overlap in plan between the apartment and a previously separate, lower ground floor storage space belonging to the client rendered open the opportunity to link and extend the office plan into the lower floor. The stair became a field of playful exploration of material properties, weight, minimisation of visual impact and maximisation of space usage. The interior & furniture design emphasised on the in-build bookshelf ergonomics and combination of grey and red lacquer finishes, the softness of Japanese paper pendant lighting & window blinds, as well as the informality and warmth created by the textiles and wooden movable furniture and objects.
