KEDROS

TYPE: private vacation home | rural

LOCATION: Antiparos, Cycladic Islands, Greece

PROJECT: new house, exterior spaces

DATE: 2003 - 2007

DESIGN CONCEPT
A large perennial tree (‘Kedros’ = cedar in greek) dominated the site. The tree continues to be the focal point as the interior and exterior living areas of the house are organised to its side. The building’s rectilinear stone volumes seem to ‘radiate’ in plan from the tree trunk, giving the house its characteristic geometry and resulting in a variety of viewing experiences.
